Henry Co. R-I board tables CSIP and insurance-rate decision; highlights legislative and operational updates

At the March 20, 2025 meeting the Henry Co. R-I School District board tabled approval of the updated Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and deferred an insurance-rate decision to its April 10 meeting, giving staff time to follow up on administrative and pricing details.
Mr. Brad Hunter presented the updated CSIP and recommended follow-up with Shelly Aubuchon, Area Supervisor. Dr. Jamie Burkhart moved to table the CSIP until Mr. Hunter consults with Aubuchon; Mr. Jake Drenon seconded and the board voted 7-0 to table the item.
Mr. Hunter also reported that insurance-pricing work is ongoing with Jeff Walstrom; Mr. Andy Burkhart moved, Ms. Jennifer Pipal seconded, and the board unanimously agreed to postpone formal approval of insurance rates until April 10 to allow Mr. Walstrom to deliver final pricing.
As information items, Dr. Jamie Burkhart briefed the board on pending legislation including HB 711 (open enrollment, which passed the House), HB 68 (cell-phone policy) and HB 816 (personal property tax). Mr. Hunter noted district operational items: SRO Deputy Evans began work March 5, 2025; a tax-levy town hall is scheduled for April 3; the school van should arrive this week pending staff Class E endorsements; MAP/EOC testing is scheduled May 1'9, and graduation is May 18 at 2:00 P.M.
The board later voted unanimously to enter executive session for personnel matters under Missouri Statutes 610.021(3).
