The Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a final plat and a replat for a Racetrack-branded truck stop site after staff said outstanding corrected originals and public-improvement surety would be required before final recording.
Brady, planning staff, told commissioners the plats and related infrastructure plans had been reviewed by city staff and local utilities and were found to conform to subdivision and development standards except for corrected originals and outstanding public improvements. On the Racetrack site (PCWC Enterprises, Unit 3), Brady said the proposal combines several platted lots and a vacated alley near Interstate 40 and Lakeside Drive to create a truck stop and convenience store site.
Brady recommended approval of both plats conditioned on receipt of corrected originals and either construction of public improvements or provision of surety. Commissioner Josh (first reference: Josh, Commissioner) moved to approve the staff recommendation for the initial plat; the motion was seconded (second not specified) and carried unanimously. The commission then heard the Racetrack replat presentation and voted to approve it with the same conditions.
In the same meeting commissioners approved two variances tied to the Caprock Landing preliminary plan (see separate article). The meeting record shows no public speakers opposed to the plats. The approvals allow the applicants to proceed with subsequent administrative reviews and infrastructure submittals required before building permits or final plat recording.
