During the levy discussion council and staff identified a discrepancy between the printed agenda (9.9436 mills) and the packet figure (9.9911 mills). Council members corrected the motion to use the packet number; staff said the slight increase reflected renewed millages for the council on aging and the museum plus a new bike path allocation. Craig said the change equates to about $4 for every $100,000 in taxable value (per the example used in the meeting).
On the budget, staff confirmed the document was prepared to maintain current services without expansion and estimated a modest cushion of about $75,000. The council adopted the budget by roll call. The levy motion passed; the budget vote was unanimous.
Both the levy and the budget now move forward for implementation under the city’s standard financial procedures.
