The University Park Mayor and Common Council on Jan. 5 adopted Charter Amendment 25-CR-01 to amend Section 618(B) of the Town Charter, removing the requirement that the newsletter editor be appointed by the mayor and approved by the council and serve "at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council."
Councilmember William Sweet moved to adopt the amendment and Councilmember Mary Gathercole seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The change deletes the mayoral appointment and council approval language in the specified charter section.
Council members did not record further debate in the minutes. The amendment was taken up as continuing business and was recorded in the meeting minutes as adopted.
