Council unanimously approves water‑department van purchase and salt‑structure deposit

The Farmington City Council moved and unanimously approved two procurement actions at its Feb. 18 meeting.
Purchase of replacement van: Council authorized purchase of a 2025 Ram 2500 ProMaster (36 WB) from LaFontaine CDJR Lansing for $49,699 to replace the 2014 water and sewer crew chief's van. The motion to authorize the purchase was made by Council member Taylor and supported by Missus Balch; Clerk Bachman called the roll and the motion carried unanimously.
Salt structure deposit: Council approved a contract deposit to Clear Heights Construction LLC for reconstruction of the city's salt storage structure. The council voted to deposit 35% of the contract, $187,315.45, to secure scheduling; staff said the contractor expects to begin mid-April, achieve substantial completion by Sept. 1 and finish by Oct. 1. The motion was moved and seconded and carried unanimously on the roll call.
No members voted against either motion. The council adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
