Walkersville schedules public comment on comprehensive plan for Sept. 11

Town staff updated the Walkersville commission on the schedule for the town's comprehensive plan process, saying that public comment will be scheduled at an upcoming town meeting and that, following that comment period, the plan will go to the burgess and commissioners for a vote.
"This Wednesday, there's public comment on the comprehensive plan at the town meeting," a commissioner said during the meeting while confirming dates; commissioners discussed that public comment in September (Sept. 11 was named) could be followed by a vote to the burgess and commissioners and that final approval might occur as early as October or November if the schedule proceeds.
Commissioners asked staff about the meeting agenda and were told the September meeting agenda will be limited due to a candidates forum, and staff recommended following the public-comment meeting with the formal vote process. No formal vote on the plan was taken at this meeting; the commission was briefed on dates and next steps.
