The Walkersville commission approved an interim slate of officers at its meeting, agreeing that the current chair will continue in that role through the next meeting, Lamar will serve as vice chair and Kelly as secretary.
"I will continue as chair," the chair said when proposing the slate, and the commission moved and seconded the motion before approving it by voice vote. Commissioners discussed that the four original members' three-year terms expire at the end of December and that reappointments or new nominations will be processed in January; commissioners were advised to submit letters of intent to the burgess in December if they wish to remain on the panel.
Bob McNally, who participated by phone, sought clarification about when the slate takes effect and whether members remain in place until January. Staff and commissioners answered that the slate will take effect at the next commission meeting and that the December reappointment process will determine who serves beyond January.
Votes at a glance: the commission approved the officers slate (chair continues; Lamar, vice chair; Kelly, secretary) and later approved the minutes from the prior meeting by voice vote.
The commission also discussed continuity planning in light of term expirations and directed staff to circulate reappointment procedures and deadlines for those interested in remaining on the commission.
