The Historic District Commission voted Dec. 3 to allow IME Vintage to repaint and reletter an existing nonconforming post sign at 32716 Franklin Road.
Alexandra, the applicant representing IME Vintage, said she sells vintage furniture and has operated from the plaza for just over five years. "That is my brand. I sell vintage furniture. I've been in this space for a little bit over 5 years," she said, explaining she refurbished an existing wooden sign and planned brass-colored enamel lettering to improve visibility for customers frustrated by online mapping errors.
Staff and commissioners confirmed the sign is an existing nonconforming sign that is allowed to remain and be maintained. The commission agreed to permit repainting the existing sign in black with brass-colored enamel lettering as presented.
Commissioner Jennifer Cook Ragan made the motion to approve the repaint and relettering; a second was recorded and the motion carried by voice vote. Commissioners encouraged the applicant to attend to landscaping and fix leaning hardware so the sign remains safe and visible.
Next steps: IME Vintage may proceed with the approved repaint under the commission’s guidance; any future enlargement or relocation of the sign would require separate review.
