Anna council adopts stormwater dedication, approves Commerce Drive bid and tax abatement; hires part-time officer

At its April 22 meeting the Village of Anna council unanimously adopted an ordinance dedicating two Timber Trail lots for stormwater detention, voted to take Commerce Drive repairs to bid (approx. $100,000), continued a 10-year, 100% tax abatement for Shue Box Self-Storage and hired a part-time officer.
The Village of Anna council unanimously adopted Ordinance 25-1861 on April 22, accepting dedication of Lots No. 753 and 754 in the Timber Trail subdivision for stormwater detention. Council Member Ken Aselage moved to suspend the rules and Riley Schumpert seconded; Council Member Kristin Johnson then moved to adopt the ordinance and Schumpert seconded. The measure passed on roll call with all yeas.
The council also voted to take the Commerce Drive repair project — estimated at approximately $100,000 — out to bid. Council Member Mark Pulfer moved for the project to be bid and Ken Aselage seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
On economic incentives, the Tax Incentive Review Board's recommendation to continue the abatement for Shue Box Self-Storage was accepted. Council Member Mark Pulfer moved and Council Member Kristin Johnson seconded to continue a 10-year, 100% abatement; the motion passed on roll call (All Yeas).
In personnel business, Council approved hiring Tim Littleton as a part-time police officer at $17 per hour. The motion, made by Ken Aselage and seconded by Randy Van Horn, passed on roll call. Tim Littleton was sworn in at the meeting.
The meeting also included several administrative updates: Administrator William Kessler said a meeting with Miami Valley Lighting was scheduled and that the Village had been asked to support Issue 2 in the upcoming election; Fiscal Officer Stacy Meyer reported outstanding signed documents from Jagger Construction related to the 2024 sidewalk program and said three remaining property invoices had been accepted after work performed while eight of 29 property owners had not responded to letters. Public Works reported seasonal hire Kevin Carr will start May 5; UV bulbs at the water plant have been installed and are expected to be operational the next day, and park topsoil and grass seed purchases will begin patching work.
The council adjourned at 7:30 p.m. and noted the meeting was held in compliance with Amended Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
