Anna schedules Mill Street resurfacing; smoke testing and sidewalk work outlined

Administrator William Kessler told the council that Mill Street paving will begin the day after the July 23 meeting and that the Village has drafted a letter to residents on Mill Street about the resurfacing plan. He also said a meeting will be held with CSX and the Ohio Department of Transportation to discuss the Walnut Street crossing leading to the new parking lot at the park.
Kessler reported Barnes Wildlife inspected three sections of the town hall following sightings of bats; photos were taken and a report with recommended repairs and cost estimates will be prepared.
The public-works report noted that a village contractor has poured sidewalks and is working on backfilling. Smoke testing of sanitary lines is about 85% complete, and seven residents were contacted based on test findings and will need corrective work. Brine equipment has been ordered, insurance has approved traffic-light repair, and Access Engineering has begun work on the 2025 sidewalk program. Officials said curbs and crosswalks will be painted before school starts.
Police Chief Darrin Goudy also briefed the council on community safety and event planning tied to National Night Out on Aug. 6. The council did not take further formal action on these items at the meeting.
