County staff to meet with 4 Lakes after constituent complaints about weekend events

Paul, a county staff member, said staff have visited the property several times and so far have not seen activity that rises to the level requiring extra zoning entitlement or a special event permit, but they will continue to investigate.
"A special event permit is when you're doing something extraordinary than what you are entitled to do, and you can come in and ask to do something extraordinary," Paul said, describing the county’s threshold for permitting events beyond a property's plan development rights. Paul said inspections have included weekend and nighttime visits; he added that staff historically work with the sheriff's office to gather evidence when activities occur outside normal business hours and that the sheriff's office has already provided information to county staff.
Vice chair told the committee a constituent from district 2 had been vocal about recurring outdoor events at 4 Lakes and asked whether the county has a separate process for extraordinary permitting. Paul said the county would meet management and base camp representatives on July 16 to clarify whether permits or additional zoning relief are needed and that staff will target inspections on days when activities are planned.
