Walkersville adopts 2024 comprehensive plan after public hearings and Planning Commission review

Weddle said the planning commission's recommendation, staff reports and written correspondence were reviewed before the board approved the revised draft.
One commissioner raised a procedural question before the vote, saying the minutes from the Sept. 11 meeting showed the Burgess had requested a future meeting but that "there was no motion that ever occurred, and there was no vote that ever occurred to establish this meeting." Burgess Weddle responded that he had polled board members and called the Sept. 23 meeting under the charter's authority to call special meetings and that the clerk (town manager) then advertised the meeting and posted the agenda.
Commissioners also noted typographical edits to the resolution text and requested those corrections be made before signing. The board moved and seconded the motion to adopt the resolution and approved it by voice vote; the public hearing and planning commission process supporting the action were described in the resolution text.
The adopted plan is titled "Town of Walkersville Comprehensive Plan, adopted September 2024." The resolution states it was adopted following duly advertised hearings and a planning commission recommendation; the board's final action replaces the 2011 plan with the 2024 plan and directs that associated maps and planning materials be approved and adopted.
The board did not record a detailed roll-call vote count for the adoption in the transcript; the clerk certified adoption in the resolution language read into the record. The Burgess said he would sign the resolution to complete the adoption process.
