Resident Angie Smith thanks council, distributes children’s books for March Reading Month

Angie Smith, a Farmington Hills resident and member of the Farmington Scribe Board, used public comment time at the March 17 council meeting to present children's books to council members for March Reading Month and to thank the councils and school leaders for supporting in-school reading efforts.
"I am presenting each and every one of you a book so that you can read to our littles," Smith said, noting she had prepared a note for each book and that council members could contact her if they wanted additional copies. Smith thanked school board president Terry Williams and Superintendent Dr. Kelly Coffin by name for collaborating on reading initiatives between the cities and schools.
Smith said she typically participates in March Reading Month in costume but was attending in street clothes for the council meeting. After her remarks, the council thanked Smith for the donation and closed the public comment period.
