HPC approves forwarding historic‑integrity exhibit for 203 2nd Ave to Town Council; signage work continues

The Washington Grove Historic Preservation Commission approved, by motion, sending a finalized version of Exhibit C — the 'Documentation and Analysis of Historic Integrity Features' prepared for the 203 2nd Ave purchase — to the Town Council with the Planning Commission copied.

Commission members discussed porch-defining features for the property (open character, hip roof, raised floor, tapered posts and an overall eclectic appearance) and agreed the draft Exhibit C is substantially complete; additional historic photographs would be useful if readily available but are not essential to the document’s immediate purpose, which is to guide future Town Council and HPC review should porch changes be proposed.

By motion the Commission authorized Chair Bob Booher and Commissioner David Stopak to make final wordsmithing revisions and forward Exhibit C to the Town Council; the motion was recorded as approved (no roll-call tally was listed in the minutes). Barbara Raimondo, Town Council liaison, will follow up with Georgette at the Planning Commission regarding preparation of corresponding ordinance text.

Separately, members reported progress on commemorative signage narratives (Tabernacle and Auditorium) and considered an aircraft‑grade aluminum sign product for longevity; they decided to confirm resident expectations on optional house signage formats before selecting final designs. The draft FY budget continues to keep $5,000 in the special-projects line for commemorative signage.
