High Bridge council rejects off-street parking ordinance after clerk flags old code

Young informed the council that the ordinance had been prepared using older code language and that Ordinance 2023-028, already introduced at a prior meeting with proper amendments, should instead replace 2023-027. Clerk Young recommended the council vote down Ordinance 2023-027.
After closing the public hearing, council members voted on adoption. The motion to adopt Ordinance 2023-027 failed on a recorded roll-call vote with six no votes and no yes votes.
Councilmembers did not adopt any of the provisions in 2023-027 at this meeting; the clerk’s recommendation indicates the council intends to rely on the later-introduced ordinance (2023-028) rather than proceed with this draft.
