High Bridge council backs Midori Leaf LLC cannabis license application, notes 2% revenue share

The Borough of High Bridge council on July 20 voted to approve Resolution 215-2023, a municipal resolution supporting an application by Midori Leaf LLC to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
Attorney Barry Goodman explained the relationship between recently adopted borough ordinances and the applicant's submissions to the Planning Board and council. Mayor Michele Lee said the applicants were present at the meeting, noted that the borough would collect two percent of gross revenue on cannabis sales if the application is approved by the state, and expressed well-wishes to the applicants. Councilman Silvestri said he respected the applicants but questioned whether a cannabis retail business was the best fit for High Bridge; Councilmen Nowell and Graham expressed well-wishes.
A motion to approve Resolution 215-2023 passed on a roll call vote recorded as six yes and none opposed. The applicants were not named in the minutes and no additional conditions or covenant language was entered on the record at the July 20 meeting.
