High Bridge council adopts bond-ordinance amendment, approves police appointment and multiple resolutions

Mayor Michele Lee called the Borough of High Bridge council to order June 8 and the council adopted Ordinance 2023-023, an amendment to the project description in Bond Ordinance #2023-004.
Councilman Silvestri described the intent of the amendment during the public hearing. The motion to adopt Ordinance 2023-023 was made by Councilwoman Ferry, seconded by Councilman Nowell, and passed on a 6-0 roll call vote (Doyle, Graham, Nowell, Schwartz, Silvestri, Ferry). Mayor Michele Lee noted that the Town Hall recording would be posted on the borough website.
The council also approved a consent agenda that bundled several resolutions. Items recorded in the consent agenda included Resolution 185 appointing Jessica Gutsick as a police officer; Resolution 186 appointing a representative to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee; Resolution 187 approving submission of a Transit Village grant proposal; Resolution 188 designating borough newspapers; Resolution 189 and Resolution 190 authorizing Change Order 2 and Change Order 3 related to the Bunnvale Well water-line and electrical upgrade; Resolution 191 and Resolution 192 granting plenary license approvals for Mrs. Rileys and Riverside Liquors; and Resolution 193 authorizing a refund of exempt landlord registration fees. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Ferry, seconded by Nowell, and recorded as passing 6-0.
Council approved the bill payment list as presented, totaling $441,382.50, by the same recorded 6-0 roll call vote. Other routine business on the agenda included dispensing with the reading and approving the May 25, 2023 minutes and noting there were no introductions of new ordinances, no committee reports, and no legal matters raised.
The meeting adjourned by motion of Councilman Nowell, seconded by Councilwoman Ferry; the recorded vote was 6-0. The council announced its next meeting for June 22, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom; meeting information is posted on the borough website.
