Zoning report: permits issued, stream restoration site visit set and MDE modification clears dewatering window for Big Spring wall work

Zoning Administrator Tim Lung submitted a written April report to the Sharpsburg Mayor and Council on May 4 that covered routine permit activity and upcoming site work.
The report states that zoning permits were issued for a vinyl privacy fence on N. Potomac Street and a shed on E. High Street, and that a County building permit for a deck on W. Antietam Street received the town's sign-off. Lung said he's continued correspondence with Dee Price at the County Soil Conservation District to schedule a field visit to consider a stream restoration project; the field visit is scheduled for May 27 at 10 a.m.
Lung's written report also recorded that HB 239/SB 36 (state bills concerning state override of local zoning authority) failed to pass in the State legislature. Separately, the town received MDE approval of a modification request to the Waterway Construction Permit for the Big Spring wall restoration project; the modification will allow dewatering during the normally restricted period of March 1 to May 30. The report noted the contractor is unlikely to begin work until mid-summer due to prior commitments.
The report concluded with a note that the Historic District Commission approved a request for a Historic Resources Tax Credit for a roof replacement on E. Main Street and that the County's consultant for the Water & Sewerage Plan has requested information from the town to support an MDE-required update.
