Isanti County Parks Director Barry Wendorf summarized recent operations and projects at the commissions April 28 meeting, highlighting habitat work, planned trail repairs and a small wildlife grant.
Wendorf said crews completed prescribed burns across 13 units covering about 108 acres during spring burn season as part of habitat management activities. He reported a $27,500 quote from DW Companies for trail work and said he plans to ask the Isanti County Sportsmans Club for a donation to help cover the cost. Wendorf also said FOAP received a $500 grant that funded materials for six floating black tern nesting platforms, which staff and volunteers constructed and deployed at Anderson Park.
Wendorf noted staff conducted a cleanup of an old dump site on the east side of Lake 17 at Vegsund Park. The Directors Report did not include park visitor numbers; the minutes state "Park Visitor Numbers No report was provided."
