The Warren Hills Regional Board of Education approved a slate of budget, personnel and education motions at its Jan. 6 meeting, recording unanimous ayes on the items listed on the agenda.
Budget and finance approvals included acceptance of the November 2025 Board Secretary and Treasurer’s Reports under N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10, approval of a bill list totaling $3,619,612.69 for Dec. 10, 2025–Jan. 6, 2026, a student activities bill list of $20,484.91 for Nov. 1–30, 2025, and transfers of $45,919.40 for November 2025. The board also approved two Home/Bedside Instruction Agreements with LearnWell (Student #1817045299 beginning Dec. 8, 2025 and Student #4438547372 beginning Dec. 16, 2025) at $63.10 per hour with an additional 33% for administrative/preparation costs.
Under personnel the board accepted resignations and retirements and approved coaching and staff appointments. Notably, the board accepted the retirement of Laura Rice, Administrative Assistant to the School Business Administrator, effective July 1, 2026, and recorded amendments and appointments to assistant softball coach positions (Sarah Codd and Corrine Kaniewski were listed as amended coach appointments at 50% of Tier 3 Step 4). The board also accepted the resignation of substitute driver Thomas Sperduto and approved an amended teacher start date for Grace DeMicco pending required paperwork.
Education and policy actions included affirmation of administrative decisions on HIB cases (none reported) and board approval of multiple field trips and transportation requests for WHRHS AP & CP Probability & Statistics classes, WHRHS Jazz Ensemble performances, and DECA and investing activities.
The board authorized a settlement agreement in case EDS 09068-2025, regarding student 7743432046, and authorized the Board President and administration to take necessary steps to carry out the action. These budgetary and legal items were recorded under Budget & Finance motions and were approved by unanimous vote.
The board also reviewed and adopted district goals for 2025-26: increase graduation readiness on NJGPA-Adaptive Math & ELA; implement strategies to enhance culture and climate with at least two in-district programs; and implement the Structured English Instruction Program with a 15-hour training target and a completion goal greater than 95% of certificated and non-certificated teaching staff by May 29, 2026.
