Town of Newburgh approves Levinson/Old Post Road water-district extension and $4.55 million bond authorization

The Town Board of the Town of Newburgh on Sept. 30 approved a final order establishing the Levinson/Old Post Road area extension to the consolidated water district and authorized the issuance of up to $4,546,100 in serial bonds to pay for the work.
Supervisor Gilbert J. Piaquadio opened the special meeting at 11:00 a.m. and said the sole purpose of the session was to consider the bond resolution and related establishment of the district. A map, plan and report, including an estimate of cost, were filed in the office of the Town Clerk, the board recorded.
The map and report describe proposed improvements consisting of the purchase and installation of new eight-inch water mains and related fittings, equipment and incidental improvements. The maximum estimated cost of those improvements is $4,546,100; the resolution notes the amount to be financed by bonds and/or notes will be reduced by any grants-in-aid the town receives.
Councilman Scott M. Manley moved to approve the final order establishing the Levinson/Old Post Road area extension to the consolidated water district. The motion was seconded by Councilman Anthony LoBiondo and carried 4–0, with Councilmen Paul I. Ruggiero, Scott M. Manley and Anthony LoBiondo and Supervisor Gilbert J. Piaquadio voting yes.
Councilman Anthony LoBiondo then moved to adopt a bond resolution authorizing the issuance of up to $4,546,100 in serial bonds of the Town of Newburgh to pay the cost of the extension. Councilman Paul I. Ruggiero seconded the motion; the board voted unanimously to approve the bond authorization, 4–0.
The board completed the special meeting at 11:05 a.m. after a motion to adjourn carried unanimously. The resolution, map, plan and report are on file in the Town Clerk's office for public inspection.
