LaPorte County names Don Jozwiak as Veterans Service Officer; training and transition set

The LaPorte County Board of Commissioners appointed Don Jozwiak as the county's Veterans Service Officer on June 17 after a five-person committee interview process.
Jozwiak, a 22-year county Highway Department employee and a 20-year Air Force veteran, introduced himself to the board and said he was grateful for the opportunity. The board voted 2-0 to appoint him (motion by Commissioner Joe Haney, second by President Steve Holifield). Commissioners set an initial start date of June 22 so Jozwiak could receive at least one week of training from outgoing VSO Eduardo Lozano and District VSO Mark Gourley. Lozano submitted a resignation effective June 26 and was then appointed to a part-time VSO role beginning June 29 to support the transition.
