The Fabens Independent School District Board of Trustees voted July 6 to add a librarian support stipend of $500 per semester for certified librarians providing campus services.
Administrator Angel Hernandez told the board the stipend had been discussed previously but was not listed on the stipend chart; the item in the board packet is highlighted and, if approved, will be added to the district's compensation chart. "It is librarian support...which is $500," Hernandez said.
A trustee asked whether the position covered certified librarians or paraprofessionals; Hernandez clarified the stipend is for certified librarians providing support to elementary and high school librarians. Board member Mister Spence moved to approve the addition and Mister Nelas was recorded as the seconder. The board then took a voice vote; the chair announced the motion passed.
The vote was taken as a voice vote and recorded by the meeting chair; the transcript does not provide a numeric roll-call tally. The stipend will be incorporated into the district's stipend schedule and paid per semester as described in the packet.
The board moved on to discussion of the district's RFQ for a forensic audit during the same meeting.
