The Sudlersville Town Commissioners handled several administrative and contract matters March 4, approving a rental-inspection vendor, asking county staff to review the town’s trash contract and authorizing recurring-bill payments to prevent late fees.
On rental inspections, Commissioner Dilks moved and Commissioner Haag seconded a motion to proceed with First State Inspection Agency for routine bi-annual rental inspections and a joint process intended to streamline inspections for property owners, the Town and the agency; the motion was affirmed by voice vote.
The Town Clerk reported she had forwarded the town’s trash contract with Bigg Tyme Trash to Shane Moore with QAC for review; the county advised supporting the Mid‑Shore regional solid-waste program and provided a Church Hill sample clause designating the Mid‑Shore Regional Solid Waste Facility as the sole disposal site for town-collected waste. The county also recommended retaining contract language (Section E) on contractor responsibilities and complaint handling.
On town finances, the minutes reported the Queenstown checking-account balance and acknowledged a $14,302.23 deposit from the State of Maryland. Commissioners approved $5,108.96 in outstanding bills. On a motion by Commissioner Dilks, seconded by Commissioner Haag, the board authorized payment of recurring bills (telephone, electric, trash, propane, water and sewer) as they arrive to avoid late fees, provided full documentation of payments and balances will be presented at each monthly meeting.
The Clerk said trailer tags for a town trailer had not been renewed and commissioners asked 'Ron' to place it out front for sale; the Clerk will follow up with LGIT on insurance renewal and will reach out on State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) reporting to confirm the town’s submission status. The minutes also note the Clerk located an application for Planning Commission appointment and will post it on the town’s website and Facebook page to recruit members.
These actions were administrative approvals and referrals; the minutes do not record specific contract awards beyond the vendor selection for rental inspections nor any roll-call vote tallies.
