Robbins shifts some services to police department, lists storm-relief resources and community events

Mayor Darren E. Bryant reviewed the village's storm response, thanked public works, the Salvation Army and resident Early Walker for assistance, and reported that Cook County President Preckwinkle's office provided $700,000 connected to a water break at 119th and the village's water bill to Alsip. The mayor said the village is coordinating with Cook County Emergency Management to use the CEDA building as a resource facility, and referred residents to CEDA and state programs for possible reimbursement for food losses caused by the outage; he urged keeping receipts.
Administrative announcements included a postponed Wind Creek Southland Casino recruitment event (originally July 25/26) and a hiring event scheduled for Aug. 7 at Prairie State College; Robbins Park District and Friends of the Park events were posted (pancake breakfast July 25; back-to-school giveaway Aug. 10), and National Night Out is set for Aug. 6 at 13800 Trumbull. The Robbins Fire Department is offering assistance to install free smoke detectors; residents should contact the building or fire departments for details.
An assessor's office representative will be at the community center July 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. to discuss property assessments and taxes. The mayor also noted a delay in the village-hall renovation until approximately September because state monetary distribution is paused until Aug. 14.
The meeting included a public question about PACE shelters; trustees moved into a closed session for personnel matters later in the agenda and reconvened without announcing public personnel actions.
