Cochran council schedules executive session Aug. 19 to evaluate city manager; enters session Aug. 12

Council members discussed procedures and timing for the city manager evaluation at the Aug. 12 regular meeting and set a special executive-session evaluation for Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6:00 PM.
Council Member Shane Savant explained the manager’s contract requires an evaluation before renewal and said previous evaluations had not aligned with contract timing. The council discussed whether to solicit department-head input and whether responses should be anonymous. City Clerk Candace Summerall offered an anonymous numerical evaluation system and suggested sealed envelopes and compilation; Council Member Carla Coley supported anonymous forms combined with optional individual meetings. The council approved an executive-session evaluation process and directed the clerk to provide evaluation forms to department heads. The City Attorney confirmed the special meeting procedures.
Later in the regular meeting the council unanimously voted to enter executive session for personnel matters; the meeting recessed at approximately 8:48 PM and adjourned at about 9:03 PM.
