Cochran council adopts 2025 rollback millage rate of 10.727 mills

The Cochran City Council voted unanimously on Nov. 6 to adopt a rollback millage rate of 10.727 mills for 2025. Councilman Shane Savant moved to adopt the rollback rate and Councilman Gary Ates seconded the motion; the vote was unanimous.
The decision followed a brief public hearing at 7:13 p.m. in which no members of the public spoke. City Manager Richard Newbern told the council that tax bills are expected to be mailed in December and will be due in early February 2026.
The rollback reduces the council's proposed rate from 10.875 mills to 10.727 mills for the coming tax year. The hearing and vote concluded the council's formal consideration of the 2025 millage rate for this meeting; there were no amendments or public objections recorded.
City staff will proceed with the administrative steps to finalize the rate and issue tax notices as scheduled.
