Leonard Park monument nominations and joint-meeting plans discussed; outage disrupted pool equipment

At its July 10 meeting the Mount Kisco Recreation Commission reviewed nominations for a Leonard Park monument plaque, discussed coordinating meetings with the Leonard Park Committee and addressed an earlier power outage that briefly knocked out park power and affected pool pumps.
Joanne Aquilino said she had received three applicants for the Leonard Park monument and asked the commission to review the proposed plaque wording for clarity. The application fee is $50 and the plaque cost is $275; Aquilino said there was a question about whether someone could nominate themselves.
Commissioners discussed meeting coordination between the two bodies. The Recreation Commission is scheduled to meet Sept. 4 and the Leonard Park Committee is scheduled for Sept. 12; Kathy Feeney suggested having representatives attend each other’s meetings to improve communication. Linda Cindrich emphasized the Leonard Park Committee’s limited remit and urged proactive oversight. "Linda stated that the Leonard Park Committee job is to oversee the Leonard Park Deed only," the minutes record. Cindrich also urged the Recreation Commission to be proactive about park rules and regulations.
The commission heard that a playground safety inspection was scheduled for Thursday, July 11.
Joanne Aquilino reported that on Friday, June 21 a tree fell and brought down power lines at the park, which caused pool pump problems. A sump pump and generator were used to maintain operations and full power returned by the following Monday. Aquilino said insurance claims have been submitted to the Village Manager.
A motion to adjourn was made by Linda Cindrich, seconded by Kim Terlizzi, and passed with all in favor. Meeting minutes were submitted by Gail Hall; the commission's next meeting is Sept. 4, 2019.
