Rec. department unveils new preschool and seasonal programs; denies on‑field fundraising request

At the Sept. 4 meeting, the Mount Kisco Recreation Department outlined new programming for the coming seasons and addressed a community fundraising request.
Superintendent Joanne Aquilino said the department will offer a preschool program for ages 2–4 and a high‑school Thursday night drop‑in, along with seasonal events including a haunted‑house weekend, Halloween carnival, family pumpkin carving and holiday crafts. Aquilino said Samantha Alanzo, Camp Iroquois camp director, will run the preschool program and that the department hopes to expand special events and attendance.
Commissioner Kathy Feeney asked why soccer was not listed in the brochure; Aquilino explained that the AYSO soccer program does not supply the recreation department with information, though it uses village fields. Commissioners asked that a finished brochure be uploaded as a PDF and that a link be sent to residents prior to mailed copies.
A resident, Christie Fanelli, requested permission to place a donation table for breast‑cancer fundraising at fall baseball games in Leonard Park. The commission denied the request for Leonard Park and suggested Fox Park as a possible alternative; Fanelli was advised to meet with the Leonard Park Committee to explore options.
Commissioners welcomed new member Christy McGinn during good and welfare. No substantive board items were raised.
