Leonard Park Committee survey results identified a new playground as a top priority; Aquilino said an accessible playground could cost roughly $1,000,000 for equipment and surfacing. Commissioners discussed fundraising approaches including corporate sponsorships, a golf tournament and silent auctions; Aquilino and Assistant Village Manager Ken Famulare noted there are Attorney General guidelines for municipal fundraising and suggested the Friends of the Library as a possible partner to manage or advise on private fundraising.
Aquilino estimated $90,000–$100,000 to resurface remaining pools and noted equipment mismatches that complicate repairs. She also described structural issues at the Memorial Complex — an aging gym floor, basement cracks and water intrusion — that she said should be prioritized. Regrading or re‑skinning the softball infield was estimated at about $35,000 to address standing water and increase usable hours.
No capital appropriations were approved at the meeting; commissioners asked for further planning, fundraising ideas and interdepartmental coordination ahead of budget season.
