Allegany County reports sales tax growth and authorizes application for PSAP operations grant

At the start of the Ways & Means Committee meeting on June 17, County Treasurer Jenna Kelley presented the 2026 Allegany County sales tax report showing net receipts of $13,414,049.68 through June 17 and gross receipts up $696,912.99, or 5.480 percent, compared with the same period last year.
Later in the meeting Sheriff Scott Cicirello requested authorization to apply for the New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Combined SFY2025 & SFY2026 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Operations Grant. The packet reported the statewide award at $20 million shared among counties and the City of New York; Allegany County's share was listed as $286,626. The committee approved the request on a motion by Legislator Havey, seconded by Legislator Healy, and the clerk was instructed to prepare a resolution.
