Planning board approves Cornell Cooperative Extension addition in Town of Amity; one member abstains

The Allegany County Planning Board approved a referral for a multipurpose addition to the Cornell Cooperative Extension building in the Town of Amity at its June 17, 2026 meeting.
Kier Dirlam explained the referral and said staff and board discussion focused on utility services, water use and wastewater considerations. The minutes record that "Kier Dirlam explained that the referral had been submitted by Cornell Cooperative Extension." Board members were advised that Cornell Cooperative Extension should, at a minimum, inquire with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation about whether a SPDES permit is required.
On a motion by Jon Gorton, seconded by Paula VanDyke, the Allegany County Planning Board approved the proposed project and found there were no significant county-wide or intercommunity impacts. The motion carried; Jason Isaman abstained from the discussion and vote.
The minutes do not provide a roll-call vote or additional conditions; Kier Dirlam noted the recommendation to consult NYSDEC regarding permitting as a follow-up point.
