Fruit Heights City Council on July 7 approved an interlocal agreement with Weber Basin Water Conservancy District for the Oakmont Acres paving project, under which Weber Basin will replace a private irrigation line and reimburse the city for 30% of the road reconstruction tied to that work.
Staff told the council Weber Basin will install a new irrigation main down Oakmont and provide new meters; residents will connect to the public line. City staff said the irrigation work overlaps a road resurfacing that the city had already scheduled for Oakmont; Weber Basin's reimbursement reduces the city's net cost for the street work. Staff also said the district's segment of work had already begun and the city's bid opening for paving was scheduled the next day.
Council member Eileen Moss made the motion to approve the interlocal agreement and Mark Cottrell seconded. In a roll-call vote, Eileen Moss, Blake Winslow and Mark Cottrell voted yes; two members were excused. The resolution was recorded as Resolution 2026-13.
Staff said the partners expect the irrigation replacement to take a few weeks and that the city will proceed with its contract work once Weber Basin completes its portion. The council directed staff to finalize contract documents and return any final procurement details to council as required.
