Council approves $4.5M for Western Heights infrastructure as part of multi‑year investments

Councilmember Thomas praised KCDC and the city's work to secure the competitive federal grant and described Western Heights as a model development he has followed for years. Councilmember Honeycutt echoed support, noting the partnership between city, federal and private dollars.
The resolution passed on voice vote. The funding will be used for infrastructure and construction in the neighborhood as part of KCDC-led development efforts; council discussion framed the item as an ongoing investment in affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization.
