Holden council certifies election, declares Ward II seat vacant and appoints Gary Goodfellow

Mayor Ray Briscoe presented Bill No. 04-01-25 for first and second readings and called for approval. The minutes state the council found that the candidate for Ward II had moved out of the city since the filing date and therefore the seat was declared vacant. On the second reading the roll call recorded Councilmembers Pemberton, Miller, Barwick, Mensch, Goodfellow, Fields and Mallory as voting yes; Councilman Jim McDaniel was recorded as absent. Bill No. 04-01-25 passed.
Shortly after the certification, the council considered Resolution R25-14 to appoint Gary Goodfellow as Ward II councilmember. Councilwoman Fields moved the appointment and Councilman Mensch seconded; the resolution passed. The minutes do not record the vote tally for R25-14.
The certification of the election completes the council's formal review of election results at this session and the subsequent appointment fills the declared vacancy on the council.
