Shrewsbury aldermen approve liquor licenses, reappoint board members and hear community event updates

City Clerk Katelyn Wands presented liquor license matters that the board approved on a single motion by Alderman Grant Diel and seconded by Alderman Jacob Riley. The approvals included St. Michael's annual license and event approvals for two soccer tournament weeks (Aug. 12–18 and Aug. 19–25), as well as licenses for Walmart and Dierbergs Market.
Fire Chief Amenn reported that the Firehouse Hounds event on May 23 drew a couple of hundred attendees and that at least 15 animals were adopted. Police Chief Lisa Vargas said the department assisted with collecting donations for a local teacher organizing tornado relief for students affected by the May 16 tornado. Vargas also briefed the board that the Missouri Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run was scheduled for May 28 and that Shrewsbury's National Night Out is planned for Aug. 12.
Alderman John Odenwald moved, and Alderman Ben Stark seconded, reappointments of Andrew Checkley, Eric Haring and Joe Totterer to the Board of Adjustment; the board approved the reappointments unanimously. Separately, Alderman Odenwald moved and Alderman Beth Parker seconded first reading of Bill No. 4047, a subaward agreement with the Missouri Department of Public Safety; the board approved the first reading by unanimous vote. The meeting was adjourned; the next meeting is scheduled for June 10, 2025 at 6 p.m.
