The Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen on May 13 unanimously approved an integrated building permit application for My Place Bar and Restaurant and authorized an emergency repair purchase for the Aquatic Center.
Alderman Odenwald moved to approve the My Place Bar and Restaurant permit; Alderman Ben Stark seconded and the motion carried without opposition. Later in department reports, Parks & Rec Director Chris Buck asked the board to approve an emergency purchase of a flange piece that had been causing substantial water loss at the pool. Alderman Odenwald moved and Alderman Stark seconded the emergency purchase authorization, capped at $5,000; that motion also passed unanimously.
Police Chief Lisa Vargas told the board the department was awarded a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant of $9,999.99 and said an ordinance to accept the grant for upkeep on the FLOCK system will be presented to the board in coming weeks. Vargas also reported two police vehicles are out of service and replacements will be purchased using FY2023 excess funds previously approved.
During public comment, resident Christine McDermott said the traffic signal at Murdoch and Laclede Station Road is mistimed and asked the city to contact St. Louis County to correct the timing. The minutes list no formal county response at the meeting.
The board’s approvals were recorded as unanimous voice votes in the meeting minutes.
