Shrewsbury Board affirms April 8 election results and advances municipal code revision

The City of Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen on Tuesday adopted Ordinance Bill No. 4045, declaring the results of the April 8, 2025 municipal election, and advanced Bill No. 4046 on a unanimous first reading vote.
Alderperson Beth Parker sponsored Bill No. 4045. The board completed the ordinance’s first reading, second reading and a motion for final passage; each step passed by unanimous voice vote. The ordinance formalizes the city’s certification of the April 8 election results.
Also on the agenda, Alderperson Parker introduced Bill No. 4046, which would revise Chapters 125 and 550 of the City of Shrewsbury Municipal Code and change the structure and responsibilities of the City Building and Housing Department. The board approved the motion for first reading without recorded opposition; no final adoption occurred at the May 13 meeting.
The board did not include additional debate or public testimony on either ordinance in the publicly posted minutes. The city clerk recorded the motions and unanimous voice votes for the readings and final passage where applicable. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for May 27, 2025.
