The Town of Holland Board accepted a $370,000 payment from Alliant Energy as fulfillment of the town’s road repair obligations stemming from the construction of the Onion River Solar project, Chair David Huenink reported at the Aug. 12 meeting.
Huenink said the town received a post‑construction noise study showing overall compliance with allowed thresholds but noted some localized readings that exceeded thresholds and drew questions from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission; Alliant told the town those exceedances were ambient noise and not generated by the solar facility. The board asked Weed Commissioner Michael Kuffel to review Alliant’s vegetation management because some areas may contain noxious weeds that should have been removed earlier.
Following the Alliant payment report, the board voted unanimously to amend the 2024 budget to reduce both the revenue and expense line items for "Road Repairs Related to Solar Utility" from $750,000 to $370,000 to match the payment received.
What happens next: Chair Huenink will follow up on required documentation from Alliant Energy. Clerk‑Treasurer Janelle Kaiser will provide Weed Commissioner Kuffel with mapping and details so he can inspect vegetation management areas and report back to the board.
