Commission honors telecommunicator Hannah Garrison for aiding childbirth on 911 call

At the start of its April 28 meeting the St. Clair County Commission presented a formal commendation to telecommunicator Hannah Garrison for her response to a critical emergency call on March 30, 2026.

Chair read the written commendation—authored by Sheriff Billy Murray and the commission—saying Garrison provided "calm, clear, and effective assistance" during a high-pressure call received at approximately 0014 hours that guided the caller through a successful delivery without complication. The commendation noted Garrison’s training, crisis-intervention skills and dedication to public service.

Those who spoke praised Garrison’s development into a trainer and a shift supervisor, and several commissioners and staff thanked her for making the county’s emergency communications team stronger. Garrison responded, "Thank you," and said the delivery was her first.

Why it matters: Telecommunicators are often the first professional contact in life‑and‑death emergencies; the commission used a formal commendation to recognize performance that county officials said helped ensure a positive outcome.

The commission also adopted a resolution (numbered in the meeting materials as 2026-25) honoring the telecommunicator.
