The Ireton City Council on Nov. 18 addressed several local facilities and community requests: residents raised parking changes for a Main Street apartment, the mayor proposed a park playground committee and volunteers were sought, and renovations to the shelter house and pickleball-court lighting were tabled pending cost estimates.
Bruce and Sue Vonk told the council they had laid out parking lines behind their Main Street apartment building and asked the city to enforce a one-vehicle-per-apartment rule. They said they will provide written notice to tenants that vehicles must be removed from Main Street during snow plowing.
Mayor Kent Hoogland proposed a park playground committee composed of two council members, two members of the booster club and other interested residents; Angela T.N. volunteered to serve. The council noted the city has received some grant money and a donation from "Smoke Off," and instructed the clerk to apply for additional grants.
Shelter-house window and door work and installation of pickleball-court lights were discussed but tabled until Richardson can provide price quotes and estimates for specific materials. No formal contract awards or budget approvals were recorded.
The council adjourned after routine business; follow-up items will return to a future agenda once staff provide estimates and further information.
