The Sault Ste. Marie City Commission on July 6 unanimously approved a conditional employment agreement for city manager candidate Patrick Reagan that sets a starting salary of $128,000 and includes a monthly automobile allowance and up to $3,500 in documented moving-expense reimbursement.
The agreement, presented by Mayor Gary, mirrors many terms of the prior city manager's contract and ties annual salary increases to those awarded to department heads. The commission said the Municipal Managers Association (MML) completed a background check and reference review with no items of concern before the vote.
Commissioner Marble moved approval and the motion passed without opposition. The commission noted Mr. Reagan would need time after execution to provide notice to his current employer; staff estimated a mid-to-late August start date if all steps proceed on schedule.
The commission will sign the execution copy after the meeting and return the signed document to Mr. Reagan. No additional public testimony was taken on the personnel item.
