Pickleweed construction, $105 million central library estimate and Measure K campaign discussed

On the larger central library project, Daniel said the subcommittee met and that Griffith presented draft programming for a proposed 50,000-square-foot building. "The estimated cost for the 50,000 square foot kind of plan is around 105,000,000," he said, and described three delivery methods presented to the committee: progressive design-build, traditional design-build, and design-bid-build. Daniel said the subcommittee will forward delivery-method recommendations to the city council for a public vote.
Staff also discussed local ballot measures: the item previously referenced as Measure D on the state side now appears as Measure K on the local June ballot. Daniel said the library's friends and foundation are leading the Measure K campaign and that the library will shift from advocacy to education, posting informational material to the library website.
Daniel reported the library received a 'Lunch at the Library' state grant for $6,000 to provide engagement and outreach at school lunch distribution sites over the summer; the grant will fund two interns to help with outreach work.
Trustees asked for links and supporting materials for the subcommittee meeting; staff committed to sending the meeting recording and documentation. No final council decision on project delivery or construction funding was made at the meeting.
