The Union County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted ordinance 866‑2026 on final reading, revising the county administrative code’s disorderly conduct provisions and the rules governing contracted off‑duty employment of law‑enforcement officers.
Clerk of the board read the ordinance title before the board opened the floor for limited public comment. County Manager Ed Oatman summarized the substantive changes, saying the ordinance “raises the fee for the fine for public urination and … increases the rate for off duty jobs.”
Vice Chair Williams moved the ordinance for final reading and Commissioner Signorello the 3rd seconded the motion. The clerk then called the roll; Commissioners Baker, Leon, Mirabella, Neron, Palmeri Mudette, Signorello the 3rd, Vice Chair Williams and Chairman Bodek all voted “aye.” The clerk recorded eight affirmative votes and the ordinance was adopted.
The board did not receive extended public testimony specific to the ordinance during the final‑reading window. The county manager noted that any operational details stemming from the ordinance’s changes will be implemented by the appropriate county departments and that the board retained the option to provide more direction after administrative review.
The ordinance affects (1) a disorderly conduct article and (2) a chapter governing contracted off‑duty employment; the county said the changes include adjustments to fines and to contractual pay rates for officers performing off‑duty work.
