Norway names Greensboro as World Cup 2026 training base; UNCG to host team

The announcement included a video message from a Team Norway project manager confirming the team's intention to arrive in early June and train at UNCG facilities.
Richard Beard, president and CEO of the Greensboro Sports Foundation (speaker 25), said hosting Team Norway places an international spotlight on Greensboro and called it an opportunity to showcase the community and hospitality. Anthony Cordo, CEO of Visit Greensboro (speaker 26), emphasized the economic benefits of sports tourism and the city's role in supporting large events.
Mayor Mary K. Abuzuaiter and university and foundation leaders urged community support and highlighted volunteer and hospitality needs as planners finalize logistics ahead of the team's arrival.
