The Board of Aldermen of the City of Bel-Nor voted Jan. 19 to adopt the city's 2026 budget ordinance (Bill No. 1209, Ord. No. 1175) after a second reading and a unanimous roll-call vote.
Mayor Anna Vogel opened the second reading and Bill Hook of the finance committee said council changes requested during the open session were incorporated into the budget. Alderperson Mike Capstick moved for the second reading and Alderperson Terri Durand seconded the motion; the ordinance passed following board discussion and public questions.
The finance committee's update, as reported during the meeting, noted no major payments or issues in the December 2025 treasurer's report. The board approved that report by unanimous voice vote earlier in the meeting.
Why it matters: the annual budget authorizes city spending priorities for the year, affecting maintenance, personnel and contracts for services the municipality provides. City officials said they will continue to monitor expenditures and report back at routine meetings.
