Parks board hears updates on dugouts, tennis courts and quad building as scoreboard tech is reviewed

Tennis courts: staff described recurring cracking on four back courts caused by a shallow combined sewer line; options on the table include crack-filling or full removal and asphalt resurfacing. A quote from Milestone (formerly Nibloc) is being sought to evaluate full resurfacing and potential replacement posts.
Quad building repairs and safety: staff detailed water intrusion, unfinished soffits, attic mold and missing trim in the quad building. Proposed ideas include reconfiguring the building into a single-square observation deck with exterior stairs to free interior space, adding netting for foul-ball protection and addressing water drainage; staff will consult the building department and engineers on required work.
Scoreboards and app-based alternatives: staff said scoreboards exist on every field except Field 6 and referenced potential adoption of the Game Changer app to reduce reliance on fragile, costly remotes (staff cited prior replacements costing approximately $1,200 each). Board members asked staff to research subscription costs and how pitch-count and game data might be tracked.
Pastors’ outreach: staff said a group of local pastors asked about setting up in park spaces to offer prayer; the board heard that current city ordinances do not require permits for such activity and asked staff to invite the pastors to present details or submit a written plan.
Next steps: staff will obtain vendor quotes for dugout and tennis-court work, research scoreboard app subscription details and return with cost estimates and a timetable at a future meeting.
