Committee members reported that the first of three treatments targeting Japanese knotweed at Ballston Lake Fire Department Memorial Park has been completed; the minutes note an intention to clear the area in time to use it as a sledding hill this winter. Hemlocks in the park have been treated for hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) and tagged for follow-up.
A trail grant application has been submitted to fund an access trail from Lakehill Road to the pavilion at the Memorial Park, and the Town Board has approved a survey of the proposed route. Committee members listed additional projects to maintain momentum, including an access path from Lakehill Road to the pavilion, a small playground next to the pavilion, refurbishment of the volleyball court, and trail repairs from the pavilion area to the field.
