Board begins review of residential definitions, removes transient-occupancy phrasing

At the April 8 meeting the Planning Board began a multi‑topic review of residential land-use categories to close definitional gaps and improve clarity. Town Planner Charles Wise presented a single consolidated document compiling residential definitions and identified categories that lack clear categorization, including bunkhouses, seasonal employee housing, short-term rentals, and rooming/boarding houses.
Staff removed transient-occupancy language from residential definitions as recommended in the Housing Chapter. Board members were assigned to review the document and identify missing categories or language that needs clarification before a subsequent meeting.
The review is intended to make the zoning code easier to apply and to ensure modern housing types are addressed explicitly. The planner will collect board feedback for a revised document at a future meeting.
