Selectmen appoint library trustee alternates, set Transfer Station closure and call for Town Hall space plan

The Moultonborough Board of Selectmen made several administrative decisions and community announcements at its April 7 meeting.
Appointments and reappointment: The Board appointed Kim LeFebvre and Jessica Gray as Library Trustee Alternates for one-year terms expiring March 31, 2027. Selectman Christopher P. Shipp moved to reappoint Anni Jakobsen as a regular member of the Conservation Commission for a three-year term ending March 31, 2029. All appointment motions passed unanimously (5-0).
Transfer Station closure: The Board approved closing the Transfer Station on Monday, May 18, 2026, so staff may attend the 2026 Recycling Conference & Expo; the closure will be posted for residents.
Community cleanup: Chairman Kevin D. Quinlan announced a Community Cleanup Day on Friday, April 24 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, hosted by the Recreation Department and the Conservation Commission in partnership with the Academy; volunteers will meet at the Recreation Department and trash bags will be provided.
Space needs and administration updates: By consensus the Board directed Selectman James F. Gray to work with department heads to develop a plan addressing Town Hall and Recreation Department space needs. Town Administrator Angela Bovill said internal policies and procedures need updating, and that the Finance Director and department managers are reviewing year-end projects and encumbrances. Bovill also said the Transfer Station will soon accept credit-card payments (no date specified) and that the town is awaiting quotes for a Public Safety Building pole barn. The next Selectmen meeting was announced for April 21, 2026.
Citizen comments included Tom Howard, who thanked the Board for addressing recreation needs and emphasized the importance of location and accessibility. The public portion of the meeting concluded before the Board entered a non-public session and adjourned at 6:55 PM.
